From Kindergarten Dreams to Published Reality

For Sarah Dickens, the journey to becoming an author didn’t begin in adulthood—it was spoken into existence when she was just a child. “When I was in Kindergarten, my teacher asked what I wanted to be when I grew up,” she recalls. “I said, ‘I want to be an author!’” What seemed like a simple childhood aspiration was, in reality, a God-given declaration of purpose. That dream, rooted in innocence, would later bloom into a powerful testimony of perseverance, faith, and divine calling.

A Defining Moment in 2018

The official beginning of Sarah’s writing career can be traced back to 2018 at a women’s conference that would forever change the course of her life. Asked to publicly share her dream, Sarah stood before an audience and spoke her heart: she wanted to write a book. That bold moment of vulnerability led her to connect with a book coach who would guide her through writing what would become her debut memoir: A Victory Song: Beneath the Veil.

Four years later, in 2022, her dream became a reality. Her first book was published, and with it began her journey as a published author—one that she feels was orchestrated by God Himself. “Ever since I published my first book, I have been led to stay and remain as an author by the Lord,” she says. “This is what I will do for the rest of my life until God calls me to retire.”

Anchored in Faith

Sarah’s story is not only about writing—it’s deeply intertwined with her spiritual journey. Raised in faith but distanced from God during her early adult years, she returned to a relationship with Him in college. That reconnection has since been the cornerstone of her identity—not just as a person, but as a writer.

“My success comes directly from my relationship with God,” she says with conviction. “If it were not for the strong relationship that I have with Him, I would not be where I am today.”

Sarah follows God’s direction closely, often writing prayers and letters to Him in her journal, which guide her next steps. “I make my decisions based off of how God is leading me,” she explains. Her writing isn’t just a career—it’s a calling.

Giving a Voice to the Voiceless

Sarah’s writing focuses on bridging a gap that is often overlooked—the value and dignity of those living with mental illness. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder, Sarah is transparent about her struggles and uses her platform to advocate for others who feel forgotten.

“I am trying to be a voice for those who think they do not matter,” she says. “Whether they have a mental illness or not, I want them to know that God is with them—and they are never alone.”

Her first book, A Victory Song: Beneath the Veil, shares her personal testimony, offering both raw honesty and spiritual hope. Through it, Sarah reminds readers that they matter deeply to God, just as she came to realize her own worth in His eyes.

A Unique Writing Style, Set Apart by God

Sarah’s writing talent was recognized early on by her teachers. In 5th grade, her essays were read aloud to the class. In 10th grade honors literature, she consistently earned top marks. Her style is emotive, authentic, and faith-driven—something she sees as a gift from God.

“My writing style is what makes me unique,” she explains. “God set me up to be unique in my writing so that I could glorify Him through the words I share.”

A God-Given Milestone

Among her proudest achievements so far is winning second place in her category in the Global Book Awards. This recognition served as both affirmation and encouragement. “It proved that my work was not in vain,” she says. “God saw me and the days and hours I put into writing.”

The award seal now graces the cover of A Victory Song: Beneath the Veil—a visible reminder of a deeply spiritual journey and the fruit it has borne.

Looking Ahead: What’s Next for Sarah Dickens

Sarah’s writing journey is just beginning. Her second memoir, A Victory Song: Thoughts of Peace, is slated for release in 2025. The third installment in the series, A Victory Song: Thoughts of Power, will follow in God’s timing.

She’s also stepping into a new genre—children’s literature—with her first illustrated book titled She Walks With Jesus. This project, like the others, is led by prayer and purpose, created to touch young hearts with the truth of God’s love.

A Legacy of Light

What does success mean to Sarah Dickens? It’s not about fame or financial gain—it’s about obedience and impact. “Success is found in my relationship with God,” she says. “That’s what matters most to me.”

Through every page she writes, Sarah seeks to reflect the light of Jesus Christ and offer encouragement to others. Whether in a bookstore, a church signing event, or a quiet moment of reading at home, her words are meant to uplift, inspire, and heal.

As she continues walking this path, Sarah remains committed to her calling with unwavering faith. “I plan to remain an author for the rest of my lifetime,” she says. “Until God calls me to retire.”

Closing Thoughts

Sarah Dickens is more than an author—she’s a woman of purpose, a voice of hope, and a testament to God’s faithfulness. Through her books and her story, she invites others to believe that healing is possible, purpose is real, and no one is ever forgotten in the eyes of God.
